Frequently asked questions
Grouped by topic below. If your question isn't here, call or WhatsApp us directly — we'd rather answer it than have you guess.
Documents & eligibility
What documents do I need to rent a bike?
Original driving licence plus Aadhaar or passport for Indian nationals. Foreign nationals need a passport, current visa copy, original home licence and an International Driving Permit for anything over 50cc. Full detail on our documents guide.
I'm a foreign national — do I really need an IDP?
Yes, for any motorcycle or scooter over 50cc, which covers our entire fleet. It must be obtained in your home country before you travel — it cannot be issued in India. See our foreigner's guide for the full explanation.
Can I rent a bike without a driving licence?
No. We check every licence before handing over a bike — this protects you as much as us.
Is there a minimum age to rent?
You need to hold a valid licence for the vehicle category, which in India means being at least 18 for a gearless scooter and 18 with the right endorsement for a geared motorcycle.
Payment & deposit
What's the security deposit?
₹{{DEPOSIT_SCOOTER}} for a scooty, ₹{{DEPOSIT_MOTORCYCLE}} for a Royal Enfield or Pulsar. Refundable at return, cash or UPI, receipt given.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash or UPI. We don't currently accept cards.
Is my deposit fully refundable?
Yes, provided the bike comes back in the condition it left in, with fuel roughly at the level it was handed over, and on time.
What happens if there's damage when I return the bike?
We note any existing damage together before you ride off, so there's a clear baseline. New damage is assessed fairly and cost is deducted from the deposit — we'll always show you what we're talking about, not just deduct silently.
The bikes
Is fuel included in the rental price?
No — you receive the bike with a full tank and return it at roughly the same level, or top it up yourself. No refuelling markup either way.
Do you provide a helmet?
Yes, one ISI-marked helmet is included free with every rental. A second helmet for a pillion rider is available on request.
What happens if the bike breaks down?
Call the number on the key tag — it rings the shop directly. For local rides we can usually reach you within the hour; for hill routes, we talk you through it and arrange the nearest fix.
Can I choose the exact bike or colour?
Subject to availability, yes — ask when you book and we'll try to match your preference.
Rules of the road
What are the basic rules of the road I should know?
Helmet required for rider and pillion, valid licence and papers carried at all times, and standard Indian traffic rules apply. See our mountain riding safety guide for hill-specific advice.
Is the bike separately insured, or do I need my own cover?
Rental bikes carry third-party insurance, covering damage or injury you cause to others, not the bike itself or you. Check your own travel insurance's stance on motorcycle riding, especially for a longer Chardham trip.
Can two people ride together?
Yes, pillion riding is normal and legal here. On steep climbs like Neelkanth or Kunjapuri, we'll advise honestly if your chosen bike will struggle two-up.
Is night riding allowed?
Legally yes, but we'd advise against it on unfamiliar mountain roads — no streetlights, and wildlife on some routes. See our Neelkanth route page for a specific example.
Long trips & Chardham
Can I take a rented bike to Chardham?
Yes — we prepare specific bikes for it. See our Chardham rental packages for what's included and multi-day rates.
What's included in a multi-day or Chardham rental?
Unlimited kilometres, luggage straps or a saddle stay, a spare clutch cable and basic tool kit, and our number for the whole trip.
Do you offer one-way rentals?
Not as standard — our bikes need to return to the shop. Ask us directly if you have an unusual routing in mind and we'll see what's possible.
What if bad weather delays my return?
Call us as early as you can. We're realistic about landslides and road closures in the hills and will work with you on a reasonable extension rather than penalise you for something outside your control.
Problems & breakdowns
What do I do if I get a flat tyre?
Call the number on the key tag. In town we can usually get to you quickly; on hill routes we'll direct you to the nearest local mechanic, which are more common along the main Chardham roads than people expect.
What if I'm involved in an accident?
Prioritise safety and medical help first, then call us as soon as you're able. We'll talk you through next steps for the bike and any paperwork needed.
What if I lose the keys?
Call us straight away — we can usually arrange a spare or a solution faster than you'd expect, but there may be a small charge depending on the situation.
What happens if I return the bike late?
A late fee of ₹{{LATE_FEE_HOUR}} per hour applies past the agreed time. Call ahead if you're running late — we'd rather adjust the booking than charge the fee.
