Bike rent in Tapovan, Rishikesh
Tapovan is where most of Rishikesh's yoga schools actually are — up the hill above Laxman Jhula, away from the ghats and the tourist strip. It's also steep, spread out along switchback lanes, and a genuine walk from the market below. If you're here for a TTC, you'll feel the difference a bike makes within your first week.
Getting to us from Tapovan
We're about 5 minutes down the hill from the main Tapovan taxi stand — walkable if you're empty-handed, a 2-minute auto if you've got a bag. Coming from a specific ashram further up, add 5-10 minutes depending on how high your school sits; most are reachable from our shop in under 15 minutes on foot downhill, longer coming back up.
Why a bike matters specifically in Tapovan
The hill is the whole story here. Walking down to the market or the river for breakfast is easy; walking back up after a 6am practice and a full day of sessions is the part that wears people down by week two. A scooty turns that climb into a two-minute ride, which matters most on the mornings you're already running late.
Tapovan is also spread out in a way the riverside areas aren't — schools, cafés and co-working spots sit along a couple of kilometres of winding road rather than clustered together, so you end up covering more ground per day here than in Laxman Jhula or Ram Jhula.
Who rents here
Overwhelmingly, TTC students on 200hr and 300hr courses running 3-12 weeks. For anyone in that position, monthly bike rental in Rishikesh is almost always the better deal than paying daily — the crossover point is usually around the 10-12 day mark. We also see remote workers based at the co-working cafés up here for a month or two at a time.
Parking near the guesthouses
Most Tapovan guesthouses and ashrams have some forecourt or roadside space and are used to guests parking there — ask when you check in rather than guessing. What you want to avoid is leaving a bike wedged into the narrow connecting lanes between buildings; they're barely wide enough for two people to pass already, and a parked bike there is the fastest way to make an enemy of your neighbours.

Frequently asked
Is a scooty enough for the Tapovan hill, or do I need gears?
A scooty handles it fine — it's steep in places but short. The CVT pulls it without drama. You'd only want a geared bike if you're also planning rides beyond Tapovan itself, like Neelkanth.
Where do I park near my ashram or guesthouse?
Almost every guesthouse and TTC school in Tapovan has some forecourt space and will let guests park for free — ask when you check in. Avoid leaving a bike blocking the narrow lanes between buildings; they're tight enough already.
Can I get a fixed rate for my whole TTC course?
Yes — see monthly bike rental for the standard long-stay rate, and if you're enrolling through a school, ask about our referral arrangement.
Is there a quieter way up than the main Tapovan road?
Yes, there's a smaller lane past the second switchback that avoids most of the shared-taxi traffic — we'll point it out when you collect the bike.
