Best time for a bike trip in Rishikesh

Rishikesh itself is rideable all year. Where the mountain routes are concerned, the season matters a lot more than people expect before they get here.

The two sweet spots

April to early June, and late September to November. Both windows give you clear roads, open higher routes, and weather that's comfortable for a full day of riding without the extremes of peak summer heat or winter cold at altitude.

Why we're honest about monsoon

July through mid-September brings real landslide risk on the higher Chardham-adjacent roads — Chopta, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Auli — not a theoretical inconvenience but genuine road closures and diversions that can add hours or days to a trip. Rishikesh town riding itself is fine in monsoon; it's the mountain routes we'd steer you away from in this window. See our Chardham rental page for the fuller seasonal warning.

What's open when

Kedarnath and Badrinath temples both operate on a seasonal calendar tied to weather and snow, generally open from late spring through autumn and closed through winter — confirm current opening and closing dates before you plan a trip around them, since they shift slightly year to year.

What to ride in each season

Warmer months (April-June, September-November) suit any bike in our fleet for local rides; for the Chardham routes specifically, stick to a Royal Enfield Himalayan or Classic 350 regardless of season. Winter local riding (Neelkanth, the waterfalls) is fine on a scooty in the daytime once the sun's up and the roads have dried off from any overnight dew or frost.
